HUDA BEAUTY in all its glory.

The new Rose Gold Textured palette has been all the talk in the industry since the release, however it’s gotten some backlash and undesirable feedback. Here’s my take on it all:

The Huda palette is all that everyone wishes it to be, they simply may not realize it; the matte colours are incredible pigmented and the textured shadows are simply to die for. The matte shadows are dry, opposed to a soft, cream like powder. For many, this will instantly be more difficult to use and to blend. The upside to a shadow with a dryer consistency is that there is likely less fallout and they colour payoff is amplified. The textured shadows are beautiful and they’re not trying to be anything other than exactly what they are.  HUDA actually recommends to apply these textured shadows with your finger; this is not uncommon for highly textured shadows and metallics. As a makeup artist, it’s common to use your finger tips as a complementary tool to a brush.

The colour range in the palette are truly beautiful, I feel that HUDA did a fantastic job at colour selection.

Overall, I’m thrilled to have this palette and it’s already created some of my favourite looks!

Paris. The perfect setting to get whisked away to for a romantic photoshoot!
Rupi and her fiancee, joined by her sister and friend had the opportunity to capture some beautiful moments while sightseeing along the beautiful streets of Paris.  What a terrific idea! This photo features the Arc de Triomphe as the backdrop.
Paris Hair and Makeup -Rupi described her style vision and from there, I created her soft, elegant, bride-to-be hair and makeup style. Her dress was a showstopper, so we didn’t want the hair and makeup to compete, but rather to complement the entire look. The style was kept in place by using a dry spray as well as a flexible working spray. Half pulled back, with the rest curled, I left some soft pieces falling to frame the face. I used MAKE UP FOR EVERS pro artist shadows to create the softy smokey look, which included colours such as; champagne, cool mauve tones and just a touch of black. Keeping the focus on the eyes, we used a soft, cool tonedblush and a the perfect blush toned lipstick, finished by a gloss.

From Gown to Gloss, this beautiful bride to be was all set for her shoot! – Big thanks to Rupi!

More photos of this beautiful couple and their romance story still to come!

In a city full of lights & luxury, this jewel toned lipstick feels right at home.  Even in Dubai, my favourite colour to wear is Toronto’s @bitebeauty new colour in Kir Royale. So lush, I love it!  It reminds me of the perfect ruby colour.  But which lipstick is right for you?

Do you find yourself standing at makeup counters stare in bewilderment at the lipsticks?  Choosing the ‘right’ shade of lipsticks or gloss doesn’t have to be so complicated and overwhelming.

My Trick to Finding Your Best ‘every day’ Shade

I focus on enhancing natural beauty for an every day look. The most flattering way to do this, is to select a lipstick that is one or two shades darker than your natural lip colour.

My Trick to Testing Lipstick

We’ve all bought lipstick that we thought would look great, only to discover at home that…yikes, this is not what you wanted at all. If you’re not an impulse buyer, I’m sure you’ve tried lipstick on the back of your hand in an attempt to see what the colour will look like.  While this can work well to discover the texture of lipstick (smooth, creamy, dry etc…) the back of your hand isn’t able to give you a fair read on the colour. Our lips have that great pigment built in, which will ultimately manipulate the colour we see once the lipstick on, whereas our hands have no ‘lip’ pigment.  TIP: Try applying lipstick to your fingertip or a pinker part of your palm. I find this the next best thing to lips.

Dark Shades?

Lips come in all different shapes and sizes. If your lips are on the thinner side and you’re looking to make them appear larger, stick to light-to-medium shades. Creamy lipsticks and tinted glosses are also great because the sheen and gloss catches the light, creating the illusion of plumpness.

How to Pick the Right Shade of Red

I can’t tell you how many women tell me they can’t wear red lipstick. I happily correct them each time. Red is timeless and beautiful and there’s a colour out there for everyone, it’s simply a matter of shade. The secret lies in selecting the correct undertones.  As with anything, there are always exceptions to the rule, however the following are great guidelines to follow if you’re unsure:

Skin with rose (pink) undertones, pairs great with cherry reds (cooler blue undertone).  Skin with olive/ivory (yellow) undertones, pairs great fire-engine red (warmer orange undertone).

How to Pick the Right Shade of Nude

The prettiest nude colour (in my opinion) is one that is a slightly more vibrant or a deeper tone than your skin tone. If you’re very fair, select a colour with a hint of pink, like. For those with olive and darker skin, aim for something more of a sandy beige.

The sun kissed the sky goodnight and with that, the buildings were left to be illuminated with colourful lights, which was the perfect backdrop for this lovely couple. Behind is the Burj Al Arab, located on a man made island, connected to Jumeriah. I wanted to create a high glam, sophisticated look to match the setting and wardrobe. I swept the hair up and added in the beautiful headpiece that Doris had. I opted for a smokey eye to add a little bit of drama and paired it a classic red lip. I used one of my favourite red lipsticks, MAKE UP FOR EVER’s in the colour ‘Mat 8.’

Thank you toDoris & Anthony, it was such a pleasure to work with you!

Wedding Paris Makeup and Hair

Paris. The city of love. A perfect setting for love, vows, wedding gowns and of course, a custom hair and makeup look.

I had the pleasure of working with this beautiful bride, Louise, to create a most elegant and sophisticated look. The wedding took place at Chateau de Vallery, which is a picturesque spot, located south of Paris. Everything about this wedding was based on elegance and for that reason, I created a elegant twist on the classic chignon. Adding a bit of volume and having side swept pieces that were tucked away and melted in with the style. The makeup was bold, yet understated. With a mix of neutrals, smoked out on the edges, left Louise’s eyes to steal the show. I kept the completion looking natural yet flawless, which pops of colour on the cheeks and lips. What an absolutely stunning bride!

For the bridal party, I created individual looks for each of them. They wore a soft dusted rose gown, so we kept colours quite soft with a focus on the eyes. Thanks to my terrific artist assistant Silviana!

Working with Louise, her family and her bridal party was simply a delight. A very big and happy congratulations to Louise and Marc, thank you so much for having me as a part of your special day!

Winter Beauty Tips |Corrie Elle Artistry

Winter Beauty TipsBelow are someWinter Beauty Tips

Anyone exposed tocold winter months, has likely experienced skin, which has fallen victim to the signs of winter. Dryness, dehydration, and dullness can all be undesirable effects of cold winter months. Just put on more moisturizer, right? Not necessarily.

While moisturizer is great (for everyone) your moisturizer may have an unfair advantage and be unable to truly do its job. Our skin cycle is approximately every 28 days (depending on age and other factors) therefore our skin may experience damage long before its shed. If we simplyapply moisturizer, we may just be moisturizing a lot of damaged skin, rather than nourishing the skins core.

Exfoliating increases skin cell turnover and as a result, reveals newer, healthier skin cells. Additionally, exfoliating can aid in hydration, decrease blackheads, minimize hyper pigmentation, as well as fine lines, and reveal an all-over healthy glow.

Here are three of my favourite products! Here’s some great Winter Beauty Tips!Witer Beauty Tips

Destination Wedding Makeup Artist|African Wedding|

Destination weddings are exciting and continuouslygrowing in popularity. This particular destination wedding took place inEthiopia. The bride and groom wanted to capture the essence and culture of Ethiopia in their pre wedding photos. They chose traditional dressings and selected the city of Harar; a walled city in the eastern part of Ethiopia. Harar is a city bursting at the seams with colour, culture and history. This historic placehad the bride and groom in front of the most stunning backdrops the city had to offer.

After discussing the bride’s vision forthisphotoshoot, I chose a look that was simplistic, yet sophisticated. Focusing on the bride’s natural beauty, I addeda subtle smokey eye with beautiful neutrals, a soft, yet defined contour, a hint of colour on the cheeks and rose toned colour on the lips. The bride’s hair was beautiful; I added some soft curls and set with a flex-spray to ensure the hair still had lots of movement. Adding the gorgeous gold headpiece really completed the look!

A big congratulations to Dru & Dawit!

Fall Beauty Trends |Toronto Makeup Artist

Fall beauty trends Rich lips, bold eyes and beautiful skin

SKIN – To me, this is essentially a 12-month trend, as great skin never goes out of style. The difference with fall is that the trend tends to mattify skin, leaving it less dewy than the summer months. Less bronzed goddess and more sophisticated starlet. The nineties are making a comeback and influencing todays fashion in a big way. Monochromatic nude faces, effortless smudged liners and muted, well-defined lips.

Tip: For quick definition on your eyes, make your bronzer or neutral blush double as a shadow, by sweeping it into the crease.

LIPS – Richer, darker and mattified. This trend comes as no surprise but is always a lot of fun. Fall pushes the return of berry, wine stained, plum and oxblood lips. Tuck away those shimmery glosses and reach for a daring deep lip. Not sure where to start? Here are three of my favourites:

MAC Lipstick in SIN
Kat Von D Studded Lipstick in MOTORHEAD
Bite Beauty Cashmere Lip Cream in Bordeaux

EYES Metallic eye shadows are on trend once again, this time with a twist. Richer tones are seen with a metallic finish. Its a beautiful marriage of the classic jewel tone trend, paired with the return metallic lids. If youre looking for new fall colours, MAKE UP FOREVER has all you could ever wish for. With the introduction of their new artist shadows, you have 210 different shades to choose from. Fun favourites are:

ME230 Peacock Blue (Metallic)
ME614 Graphite Brown (Metallic
D562 Taupe Platinum (Diamond)
M822 Plum (Matte)
M536 Milk Tea (Matte)
M548 Pink Gray (Matte)

Although I do love the simplicity and ease of summer makeup trends, I really love the bold and daring styles of fall.Trends dont have to rule and dictate your fashion sense but theyre a terrific way to push yourself out of your comfort zone and lead you to try new things. If you choose to wear makeup, it should be fun!
